The Glendale River Hills School District Board is pleased to announce the selection of Alyson Weiss as superintendent beginning July 1, 2021.
Alyson Weiss comes with over 20 years of experience in K-12 education in Wisconsin. Ms. Weiss is currently Superintendent of the Geneva Joint 4 School District. Her other past administrative roles include serving as a Principal in the Muskego-Norway School District and the Director of Pupil Services in Racine. Ms. Weiss’ classroom experience includes teaching and coaching inclusive practices in Racine and Kenosha. Ms. Weiss earned a bachelor’s degree from Carthage College, a master degree from National Louis University, and is a doctoral candidate at Cardinal Stritch University. Weiss shared, “I cannot help but feel that my personal career path and life experiences have prepared me for a district exactly like Glendale River Hills.”
The board chose Weiss based upon her personal and professional experiences as an educator. The board in particular is excited about the match of Weiss' skills and knowledge with the district’s commitment to equity and diversity, addressing student achievement opportunities and promoting practices for inclusion of all stakeholders in the school district. Weiss' experience as a school leader building relationships with staff and managing all elements of a school district's operations were also recognized in the interview process.
Weiss was selected following a thorough process that began in January and involved numerous stakeholder meetings and interviews with community, students, and staff. This past month, multiple rounds of interviews with the school board and sessions with the community, staff, and administration led to her selection from among three finalists interviewed on Monday, April 19, 2021. The search process was led by Ray and Associates.
Weiss further shared, “Throughout my life and career I have harbored a desire and passion for working with those students who need an advocate the most….I am a leader who aspires to be transformational and who believes in leading with my head and my heart. I am a leader who believes that every decision we make as educators must be in the best interests of all of our students.”
The district looks forward to welcoming Weiss officially to the school community through additional “getting to know the new superintendent” events in the near future.
