Associate Principal Search Underway at Glen Hills Middle School.

The Glendale-River Hills School District is a dynamic district dedicated to academic excellence, equity and student growth. The district is located in Southeastern Wisconsin in Milwaukee County. There are approximately 1,000 students in two k-8 schools. Glen Hills Middle School has approximately 500 students in grades 4-8. The Glendale-River Hills School District is seeking a successful, experienced educator to provide leadership and assistance to the Principal and talented staff and faculty. The Associate Principal will begin work during the 2021-2022 fiscal year. 

Under the direction of the Principal, the Associate Principal will be responsible for working closely with the building Principal to maintain a safe and orderly learning environment, assisting with staff supervision, with an emphasis on effective and inclusive instruction. 

Performance Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the principal, the Associate Principal 

Implements the educational mission of the school by assisting with the supervision of instructional delivery methods, curriculum initiatives, and inclusive practices
Provides leadership for instructional and systemic equity with all members of the school community
Promotes educational development and achievement for all students in a diverse environment
Familiar with, or willing to become familiar with, the concepts of continuous improvement
Prepare all students to succeed in a diverse, change-oriented, global society by fostering a learning environment in which families, parents, staff, faculty, the community and administrators work collaboratively
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning in areas such as special needs and gifted and talented
Encourages inclusion in the school environment
Supports effective and smooth transitions for students 
Holds high expectations for staff and students by assisting with staff supervision and evaluation
Promotes, encourages and leads professional staff development
Creates a positive, consistent, and structured school environment
Maintains fair, consistent, and effective  practices for handling student behavior
Participates in student supervision
Ensures that student behavior exemplifies the best of behavior management at the middle school level
Effectively communicates and builds positive relationships with staff, students, and families
Engages with the staff and community with school-wide programming such as assemblies, committees, school events, parent-teacher conferences and recreational events
At the discretion of the Middle School Principal, the Associate Principal may serve as Athletic Director and/or  Student Activity Director
Assists in the recruitment of faculty and staff
Assists with the budgetary and financial affairs of the school
Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the principal in the event of principal’s absence.
Carries out other responsibilities and duties as directed by the principal and/or District Administrator

Required Qualifications:
Certification by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction- Principal License #5051 
Continues to acquire professional knowledge through the pursuit of a #5010 license or holding a #5010 license or other professional development activities
Commitment to improving student achievement and equity for all students in the school community
Ability to effectively communicate with parents, students, and staff
Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices to support middle school learners
Technology skills 

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in School Administration. Experience - Extensive successful teaching and/or administrator experience at the middle school level.
