Live Together, Give Together.

The Glendale-River Hills School District Foundation is excited to announce that it has met its commitment to raise $50,000 toward the creation of an Innovative Learning Lab at Glen Hills Middle School in Glendale, Wisconsin. This new maker space will include a variety of modern technology and flexible furniture that will allow students to build 21-century skills through hands-on, team-based learning.

Carla Pennington-Cross, president of the Foundation, made the announcement at the November 18th Glendale-River Hills School Board virtual meeting. She shared that, due to the pandemic, the Foundation’s two major fundraising events had to be cancelled in 2020.  Nonetheless, the Foundation was able to take a small withdrawal from a growing endowment fund to meet its commitment.  Ms. Pennington-Cross said, “We agreed that, if there was ever a rainy day, this was it. So we decided to dip into the endowment fund to complete our funding of the innovative learning lab promise and step forward to assist our school community… We also have earmarked $15,000 for grants, with a goal this year of prioritizing grants that are intended to fill the unique needs created by the pandemic crisis.” Ms. Pennington-Cross summed up the vision and activities of the Foundation with the words, “Live together, give together,” paying tribute to the generations of donors, volunteers, and business sponsors who have helped build the Foundation’s endowment and ability to support the school district in this challenging year.

Information about grants will be available soon on the Foundation’s new webpage, which is in development and expected to launch shortly. The website will offer a micro-blog highlighting news and stories about school district families and Foundation sponsors, a local community-based business directory, and information about virtual and (eventually) live events.
